I’ve owned the OG Powerbeats Pro and I loved their design and how they performed at the gym. I preferred them over AirPods as they were much more secure in my ear and had physical play and volume buttons that made me ensure I wanted to do certain actions. However, things such as the lack of wireless charging and USB-C were pretty disappointing. They also didn’t hold battery that well. Nonetheless, I still used them.A leak of the new refresh had me stoked when I heard about them. Two days before today’s release, I watched MKBHD review them and was hyped for the new features; better battery, smaller case, better audio, smaller buds, heart sensors— and a new wireless charging/USB-C case. I was honestly excited mostly about the case update, but everything else was a cherry on top.I got them in today and I am not disappointed. The new design looks great— I love the vibrant orange compared to the all black pair I had for the OGs. They do fit a little differently in my ears, but in a good way— they’re much more comfortable to my ears compared to the OGs. The wireless charging was a really needed touch for the old versions. Having to charge with lightning cables beforehand while USB-C was becoming the norm was a headache. I didn’t want to carry an extra cable just for some earbuds. Now just plopping them on the wireless charger gets them charged up which is really nice. The audio does sound different. Bass is a tad bit punchier compared to before, but nothing else I really noticed. The heart sensors are pretty accurate, similar to my Apple Watch Ultra 2. Besides that, the physical buttons have also always been great.I love them, and I’m really satisfied with how they came up.EDIT: If you’re having trouble with audio being way too tinny or having too much treble, specifically on Apple devices, I’d recommend checking the “Spatial Audio” setting. The tinny aspect of the audio can come from that. When I first got them I made sure to do that and noticed the difference to be seriously significant. I listen to a lot of tech metal and thought these sounded horrible but realized Spatial Audio was on. After turning that off it sounded 100 times better. I’m still keeping mine.
