I was waiting for the router for a long time,because I though all the premium features are really great and what I was waiting for, but it was the biggest disappointment I ever have even bigger than when I bought the Asus RT-56U. and here is why:1. The ReadySHARE cloud is a joke, you can not access it through the browser and you have to have a client that only available to windows machines, for Mac you are out of luck you can not access your drive. Although Netgear says you can but you can not upload or edit, which is a lie if you have a Mac your are out of luck period. Why they even call it cloud if you can not access it through a regular browser what if you are accessing it from a public computer and these usually do not allow you to install programs to be able to access the drive.2. ReadyShare it self: you can not assign users for each share with different permissions, you got only admin with password or no password and that's about it. In my previous Asus RT-56U I was able to do that at least.3. Time Machine do not work at all I tried every thing out there from Netgear forums (that Netgear recommended through Amazon review) to a program called iTimeMachine which enable AirDisk abilities for Macs and no it did not work. And this is the biggest lie feature Netgear had, specially when they say that the new firmware 1.0.0.18 have a bigger Time Machine backup. To make sure that it was not the computer problem I tried 4 Macs with OSX 10.5 and 10.6. Time Machine backup do not work period. My drive is on their list of approved USB drives Western Digital MyBook 500GB (MDL: WD5000H1U.4. With two computers/devices connected it should be fine but more that than it might be a problem specially if they were using the USB storage. I have an older Netgeat and it do not chock like this one.5. I think Netgear are giving a beta version and not final product, but I do not think I should pay for that I think I should be paid to test these things.I hope that they do something about it, but this is not working as advertized and do not justify the premium to be paid for premium features that do not work. It is going back.Update 9/26/20111. Still no Mac client for the cloud.2. after many try and error the Time machine is working, but very important to know that if have a power outage happened while your USB drive connected to the router and it restarted, the HSF+ formatted disk will be corrupted and needs repair and usually will not work and you have to reformat the drive, and you will lose every single file because it will refuse to mount, netgear need to work on this. This happen only for mac formatted partitions, NTFS or FAT you will have no problem but you cannot use Time Machine on these partitions anyway.3. The print Share feature is the only thing the work without any problem, I use it with really old printer and new ones and it worked great.4. it seem the router range is great5. also it seem it is stable after I pre assigned the IPs for the different computers and the speed it really good.6. the Ethernet ports are really fast and it seem the router have a great sustained transfer rate, I backed up 24 GB in less than an hour.7. I am increasing the rating because I feel that it is working a little better now and the Time Machine worked.Update 10/2/2011I increased the rating because it is working really great now with no problems. The only remaining issue is a Mac client for the cloud, or even better make it browser based and get over with.Another Update 12/2/2012After more than a year now I can say this Router is the best router ever, it have everything you need and more. I have my own cloud, my media server, and print server. At one point I had 52 devices convected to it ( we had a party) and it delivered for all of them internet and media through the DLNA media server. If you are in for a router get this the price is great I bought it for more but it worth every penny.Another Update 3/6/2013 still going strong, I want to update but Netgear are not making a newer version of this one, they have many new ones but this is the only non-enterprise wireless router that have the clear channel technology, and believe me you will need it these days.Another Update 10/2/2013Still going, want a new one just because I want to not because something wrong with this one.Another update 1/3/2014Still going no problem, Netgear rolled out another update last week and the update is stable and good (security fix) but that tell me that Netgear still supporting the router and care about their products. My next router will be the Nighthawk which will be soon.
